What I wont miss about this place - Lo que no voy a extrañar de aqui

Most of the time I will miss this wonderful place, but there is a small list of things that I am happy to run away from....

La mayor parte del tiempo extrañaré este hermoso país, pero hay una pequeña lista de cosas que definitivamente no voy a extrañar y me da placer dejarlas....

1. El trafico! Road traffic!

Es algo nunca antes visto, ni en Perú, ni en Africa, ni en la India. Esto es algo a parte e increible. Si hubiera una categorización de ciudades con peores conductores, Phnom Penh porfín ganaría un premio. No existen reglas - puedes conducir contra el trafico, estacionarte donde quieres, manejar a 2 por hora en medio de la calle y parar todo el trafico, puedes entrar a una calle principal desde una boca-calle sin mirar y a 100 por hora, puedes tomar el carril izquierdo para darte mas elan para voltear a la derecha - sin mirar y cortandole el camino al que viene en el carril derecho y los que vienen en sentido contrario. Puedes hacer lo que quieres, cuando quieras y donde quieras. No hay reglas. El Khmer Rouge termino con las reglas cuando evacuó Phnom Penh y mató a muchos de sus habitantes. Los que regresaron a poblar la ciudad inventaron sus propias reglas, y al estado le da igual... desde alli cada quien maneja como puede.

Road traffic in Cambodia is something else. Something I have never seen - not in Peru, nor in Africa or India. Here you follow the flow not the rules. If there were an international prize for the city with worst drivers, Phnom Penh would finally win an award. You can drive any where - against the traffic; you can park any where; you can drive slowly in the middle of the road; you can come onto a main road from a side street at 100 ks an hour without looking; you can move over to the left lane to give yourself space to turn right, not look and cut off all those coming behind you and those coming against the traffic. There are no rules. The Khmer Rouge put an end to road traffic rules when it evacuated Phnom Penh in the 70's and killed off many of its inhabitants, since then people who re-populated the city have invented their own rules, the state does not care and each one manages as they can.

2. Ants / Las Hormigas
Los cienpies, los roedores y las serpientes.

Centipedes, rodants and serpents.

3. La Mafia / The Mafia

Thugs in lexus vehicles own this place and set the rules. If you are weak you will not survive. If you are strong you will get what you need - as long as you get it by force and in spite of others needs.

Los jefes de este lugar son matones que se desplazan en vehiculos lexus e imponen sus reglas. Si eres debil no sobreviviras. Si eres fuerte - obtendras lo que necesitas - seimpre que utilizes la fuerza bruta y atropelles (los derechos) de unos cuantos.
